The West Ham United goalkeeper is progressing well, according to the Chilean manager.

Lukasz Fabianski of West Ham United takes on some fluids prior to training at Rush Green on April 26, 2019 in Romford, England.

West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has intimated that Lukasz Fabianski could be fit for their Premier League opener with Manchester City next week.

The former Arsenal goalkeeper has been missing with a groin problem for the guts of a month.

On Saturday, Fabianski sat out West Ham’s final pre-season friendly as Pellegrini’s side drew 2-2 with Athletic Bilbao.

The Poland international was voted as the Irons’ Player of the Year last season, meaning that it’d be a massive boost if he was available to face the champions on Saturday.

And Pellegrini has confirmed that his participation hinges on what happens in midweek, but he hasn’t been ruled out.

He told Football London: “Lukasz has had an MRI, he has a small injury. We will see what happens with him during this week. With Lukasz depends on the way he works on Tuesday and Wednesday.”

Considering he only joined for £7 million [talkSPORT], Fabianski is arguably West Ham’s best signing of the last two summers.

He has been an absolute bargain and if he’s fit to face Pep Guardiola’s troops, it definitely increases the Hammers’ chances of victory.
