West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini has a message for Argentina replacement Enzo Perez

West Ham ace is heartbroken to be missing the World Cup.

West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini has graciously wished his Argentina replacement well for the World Cup.

Lanzini had been lined up for a starting spot at Russia 2018 after impressing in Argentina’s recent friendlies.

He suffered a cruel blow late last week when he suffered a torn ACL, ruling him out of the tournament and the rest of 2018.

Lanzini was replaced by River Plate midfielder Enzo Perez, formerly of Benfica and Valencia.

Speaking to Argentine newspaper Clarin, Lanzini said he wished Perez well and felt he never should have been omitted from the final 23.

He said: “I wish him luck, he is a great player and it was a shame that he stayed out, I wish him well and to contribute his football to the team.”

Lanzini also said he would like to go to Russia to support his teammates, if he is medically cleared to do so.

The West Ham ace said his injury was the lowest point of his life so far, with his dream ripped away from him as he was on the verge of accomplishing it.
