West Ham United’s, Kurt Zouma, has praised Edouard Mendy on Instagram for winning FIFA’s best goalkeeper award for 2021.

The Hammers centre-back posted on his Instagram story to his former Chelsea teammate: ‘My beast congratulations’.

Mendy, who is currently on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Senegal, expressed his delight on his own Instagram at picking up such a prestigious award.

Whilst Zouma is now donning the colours of West Ham, he would have seen first-hand what Mendy is capable of producing.

The duo won the Champions League with Chelsea last season and the Senegal shot-stopper has continued that form into 2022.

Mendy beat some high-profile and top-quality players to the prize, with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Manuel Neuer the other players on the list.

Donnarumma broke English hearts by helping Italy beat the Three Lions in the final of Euro 2020 in the summer.

Whilst Neuer is ageing like a fine wine because the 35-year-old helped Bayern Munich to yet another Bundesliga crown last season.

Mendy isn’t with Chelsea, at this moment in time, because he is trying to help Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The France-born player missed the first few games because of COVID, but he started his side’s final group match against Malawi on Tuesday.
