Hammers youngster Korrey Henry sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and shared the advice given to him by Michail Antonio during first-team training sessions.
The 17-year-old central midfielder has made 30 appearances for West Ham’s under-18 side, scoring 13 goals and chipping in with two assists in the process.
He is highly rated at the London Stadium, with many predicting a bright future for the young Englishman.
And Henry shared how Michail Antonio has been a huge influence on his fledgling career thus far, when speaking with WHUFC.com during an exclusive interview:
“Antonio and I have worked together a few times. I’ve trained with him and he’s given me tips on how to get past defenders and movement, with and without the ball. He’s definitely my inspiration in the senior side.”
Antonio joined West Ham from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2015, and has gone on to become one of the club’s most important players, showcasing his skill, power and pace on a consistent basis for his side.
With Slaven Bilic under such intense pressure already in his role as Hammers boss, it is unlikely that the Croatian will be giving many opportunities to the likes of Henry this season, although the Carabao Cup could present him with an opening.
A season playing with the club’s under-23 side will surely prove to be hugely beneficial for Henry, however, as he continues his development.
