West Ham United midfielder Jesse Lingard has revealed on Sky Sports that Jon Moss’s excuse to call the play back against Arsenal was that there was a head injury in the build up.

Moss left West Ham’s players and manager very frustrated in the second half, with some 50/50 calls going against the Hammers.

One moment in particular really hurt the Hammers, as Moss stopped a dangerous breakaway.

West Ham looked to be in on goal, with Jesse Lingard and Said Benrahma outnumbering the Arsenal defence.

However, Moss opted to call the play back rather than play advantage.
West Ham were 3-1 up at the time, and one more goal may have sealed the game.

However, Arsenal actually managed to come back and draw 3-3.

And Lingard said after the game, when asked about the incident.

“We were through on goal, two v one, me and Said. I’m not sure why he stopped it,” the West Ham man, who scored his side’s first, said.

“He said there was a head injury but none of the players went down, so I will have to see it back. But we can’t rely on things like that when we have to put the game to bed.”

West Ham’s draw means that they remain in fifth place, two points outside of the top four.
