West Ham United face the daunting prospect of a trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool on Saturday.
Hammers ace Javier Hernandez sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, ahead of his side’s clash with Liverpool on Saturday, and admitted that he is expecting a hostile reception at Anfield, due to his past history with Manchester United.
The Mexican spent five years at Old Trafford, scoring 59 goals in the process, and firmly established himself as a fan favourite with the United fans.
He then moved on to Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, before returning to England in the summer of 2017, linking up with West Ham in a £16 million deal.
The 29-year-old has scored seven goals in 21 Premier League outings for the Hammers, and he has finally hit his stride, after initially struggling to settle at the London Stadium.
Chicharito spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and explained how his past affiliation with the Red Devils will likely equate to a hostile reception for him when he plays at Anfield on Saturday:
“I don’t think so, not with my past! I don’t think I’ll be welcome over there, but that’s football and part of something which makes this sport so interesting.”
The Hammers currently sit in 12th spot in the table, and can jump inside the top 10 with a victory against the Reds.
Jürgen Klopp’s side are on fire, though, so a draw would be an extremely impressive result for West Ham, and one that they would surely accept now if offered.
