West Ham United completed the signing of the Frenchman earlier this week.

West Ham completed the £22 million signing of Issa Diop from Toulouse on Tuesday, and the Frenchman sat down for an exclusive interview with French publication L’Equipe, sharing what Manuel Pellegrini told him ahead of his switch to the London Stadium.
The 21-year-old is widely considered to be one of the continent’s best young defenders, and a move to the Premier League will provide him with the opportunity to really prove himself, whilst also being considered as a huge coup for the Hammers.

Manuel Pellegrini certainly has a lot of work on his hands in east London, if he is to guide his West Ham side back into contention for the European places this season, but signing players like Diop will undoubtedly help them on that quest.

The centre-back sat down for an exclusive interview with French publication L’Equipe, opening up on his excitement at the prospect of playing for the Hammers, whilst sharing what Pellegrini told him before he made his move to the London Stadium:

“West Ham is the club that will allow me to grow. The coach spoke to me, and explained what he expected from me. I know that I am going to arrive in a great place, with amazing players.”
Diop is still only 21, of course, so there will surely have to be plenty of patience required from the West Ham fans, if he is to go on and fulfil his undoubted potential in east London.
