Marko Arnautovic was sensational for West Ham United during their 3-0 win over Southampton today.
West Ham manager David Moyes addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s superb 3-0 win over Southampton at the London Stadium today, and shared the message he gave to Marko Arnautovic, just before taking the Austrian off in the 80th minute, as quoted by Football.London.
The Hammers climbed up to 14th spot in the Premier League table after their Arnautovic-inspired win over the Saints, and they now sit five points clear of the drop zone, with just seven games remaining this season.
The Austrian has been in scintillating form of late, racking up 12 goals in his last 17 appearances in all competitions for club and country, and the £24 million that West Ham paid for him in the summer is beginning to look like a real bargain.
Arnautovic would have been disappointed after being substituted in the 80th minute of his side’s win over Southampton today, and Moyes shared with reporters what he told the 28-year-old just before taking him off, as quoted by Football.London:
“I just wanted him to get a hat trick if he could, that’s what I was saying to him ‘get your third goal, keep at it, make sure you don’t do anything…just do your job’.”
Next up for Arnautovic and co is a trip to Chelsea next Sunday, and the Austrian will have to be at his very best, if his side are to have any chance of leaving Stamford Bridge with maximum points.
