West Ham United have really struggled for form recently.
West Ham boss David Moyes addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s bitterly disappointing 4-1 defeat to Swansea on Saturday, and admitted that the way things are going, 40 points might not be enough to secure their Premier League status this season, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The Hammers currently sit precariously in 14th position in the Premier League table, three points clear of the relegation zone, and they are in the midst of a woeful run of form that has seen them win just once in their last six league outings.
The east London outfit still face some extremely challenging fixtures between now and the end of the season, including matches against Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City, so these must be very worrying times for Hammers fans.
Moyes spoke to reporters after his side were brutally disposed of by Swansea on Saturday, and explained why it make take more than 40 points to guarantee survival this term, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“Before, I thought a point a game could get us to 40 points, as that was the old-fashioned figure, but we’re now finding we need to do more than that.”
Next up for West Ham is a vitally important clash with Burnley at the London Stadium on Saturday, and nothing less than three points will do, considering some of the tough games Moyes’ men face ahead of them.
