James Collins has been sidelined for six weeks after suffering an ankle injury in West Ham’s 0-0 draw against September.

James Collins has revealed he is “very close” to pulling on a West Ham shirt again after six weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
The 34-year-old centre-back has been forced to watch from the stands after suffering the problem against West Brom in September’s 0-0 draw at the Hawthorns.
However, Wales international Collins could be drafted in by Hammers boss Slaven Bilic to feature against Liverpool on Saturday, with the east Londoners suffering somewhat of an injury crisis in defence.

But Collins could have given Bilic a bit of good news, as he posted on his personal Instagram account stating that he was nearing a recovery from his ankle injury.
The former Aston Villa defender has made just four appearances for the Hammers this season, with preference given to the likes of Fonte, Reid and Italy international Angelo Ogbonna.
But with two of those stars out, commanding defender Collins could be in line for his fifth appearance of the season against free-scoring Liverpool attack come Saturday.
Collins will be playing for his future at the London Stadium, as he is yet to be offered a contract extension in east London with his current deal set to expire in June.
