West Ham United face the daunting prospect of a trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool on Saturday.

Hammers ace Cheikhou Kouyate spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, ahead of his side’s trip to Anfield on Saturday, and insisted that he and his teammates want to do something special for the club’s fans against Jürgen Klopp’s high-flying Liverpool side.

West Ham have been on a decent run of form since David Moyes took over as manager back in November, and look like a far more organised team, although they still sit just four points clear of the relegation zone, so their Premier League status is far from secured.

A trip to Anfield is always a daunting prospect, and the way that Jürgen Klopp’s men have been playing of late must strike fear into the Hammers’ back-line.

Kouyate, though, issued a battle cry to his teammates, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website, and promised the West Ham fans that he will be going to Anfield in the attempt to do something special for them:

“We are going to play against one of the best teams in the league and there are some good players there, including Sadio Mane. I know him and I like to play against my friends. Every time we play, he wants to win, but maybe he won’t this time because we also want to win there. We have a few days to work hard because we have a big, big game at Anfield and we want to go there and do something special for the fans.”

Despite the Senegal international’s words, it is still hard to envisage West Ham getting anything at Liverpool, and their games immediately after against Swansea City and Burnley will surely be prioritised by David Moyes.
