West Ham United midfielder Carlos Sanchez has sent a congratulatory message to Colombia teammate Yerry Mina on Instagram after the defender made his first start for Everton on Sunday.

Mina, 24, earned the man-of-the-match award as Everton produced an excellent rearguard display to earn a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge. It was Mina’s first start since his £27.2million move from Barcelona (BBC Sport).

The 15-time Colombia international had been sidelined with a foot injury, before regaining his match sharpness before returning to action with Marco Silva’s men.

Alongside Michael Keane, Mina impressed and he posted on Instagram after the match a defiant message that will have delighted the Everton support. Mina’s message is translated as:

“The boys get tired and tired, the young people weaken and fall; but those who wait for Jehovah will have new strength; they will raise wings like eagles; they will run, and they will not get tired; they will walk, and they will not tire.”

Sanchez commented on the post, putting rivalry aside between West Ham and Everton to congratulate his national teammate: “Congratulations mate, the first of many.”

Mina is now likely to be considered first choice at Everton, despite the improved form of Michael Keane who has won his place in the England side back. France international Kurt Zouma has also been superb since joining on loan from Chelsea.

Unlike Mina, Sanchez has struggled since completing a move to West Ham, after suffering a knee injury in the 8-0 win over Macclesfield Town. He is in the rehabilitation stage after undergoing surgery to correct the issue.
