West Ham United striker Jonathan Calleri has expressed his determination to prove his value to West Ham by adapting to English football as quickly as possible, telling EFE, quoted by MARCA.

Calleri joined West Ham on loan last week from Uruguayan Segunda Division club Deportivo Maldonado, and he made his Premier League debut this weekend against Bournemouth, coming on just after the hour mark to replace Enner Valencia.

The striker missed a glorious chance late on to open his account for the Hammers, but when sent clean through on goal, he was unable to hit the target.

But despite that miss, Calleri is determined to show to new manager Slaven Bilic and to English supporters what he can do, and he hopes to adapt to English football as quickly as possible.

“I am very happy to be here, I’ve had a great welcome and now I hope to be able to help my teammates.

“I know there will be a period of adaptation and I’ll try to do so as quickly as possible.

“The players who come from South America often take time to settle, but I want to quickly be able to show the English supporters why I came here.”

Calleri, who turns 23 next month, made his name in his home country with Boca Juniors, before moving to Uruguary to join Deportivo Maldonado.

He is yet to make a league appearance for the club however, having joined Sao Paulo on a six month loan earlier this year, and then moving to Europe to link up with the Hammers earlier this month.
