The West Ham United striker has struggled with his fitness again this term.
West Ham United’s Andy Carroll in action
Hammers striker Andy Carroll played the full 90 minutes against Chelsea on Monday night, and provided a positive update about his fitness in general when speaking to reporters, as quoted via the club’s official website.
The 6ft 4in striker has been so important to the way in which West Ham play, when he has been available for selection, and keeping him fit will be of paramount importance to their chances of success over the course of the remainder of their campaign.
The former Newcastle United and Liverpool hitman has scored six goals in 13 Premier League outings for the Hammers so far this season, and he undoubtedly gives his teammates and the fans a lift when he is present amongst Slaven Bilic’s starting XI.
And Carroll told reporters how he is feeling in fine fettle, despite limited training sessions, whilst highlighting how his groin has responded well following his return, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
West Ham United’s Andy Carroll warms up
“I feel good. I was obviously a bit tired at the end as I only trained three or four times in the weeks before. To get 90 minutes was great and the groin’s fine.”
Next up for the East London outfit is a trip to the south coast to take on Bournemouth on Saturday, and a win would take them back inside the top half of the table, with Southampton not in action.
And their chances of doing just that will be greatly enhanced by having Carroll fit and firing on all cylinders.
