West Ham striker Andy Carroll says he is impressed with Swansea’s Wilfried Bony.

West Ham’s Andy Carroll says he is impressed by the opposition striker who will attempt to down the Hammers this weekend.

They host Swansea City in the early afternoon game on Sunday, and know Wilfried Bony is the main dangerman.

Carroll told West Ham’s website of his admiration for the Ivorian: “I think he’s a great player and has been fantastic for them.

“He’s big, strong and keeps the ball well and he can score goals on the floor and in the air. He is going to be one to watch and keep a hold of.”

Bony has netted six times this season, as many as £28 million Everton forward Romelu Lukaku – and West Ham’s bargain addition of Diafra Sakho.

Crucially, Sakho has netted six goals in almost 300 less minutes on the pitch, but this does not mean the Hammers defence will be in for an easy ride at the weekend.

James Tomkins made a Premier League season high 22 clearances in the win over West Brom, and will have to be in similar form in order to keep Bony quiet.

For Carroll, he is simply looking to get off the mark after missing the first part of the season through injury, and will want to avoid his last game against the Swans, in which he was sent off.
