The West Ham United ace has been used in a variety of different positions so far this season.

Hammers ace Aaron Cresswell spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and insisted that he has been enjoying playing in the centre-half position recently, despite admitting that it could very well harm his hopes of making England’s World Cup squad.
The 28-year-old is a left-back by trade, but has been used as a central defender by David Moyes on 10 occasions this season.
The versatile defender has be utilised in the left-back role seven times – the same amount of appearances he has made in the left wing-back role.
Cresswell spoke to the club’s official website about his recent upturn in form, and admitted that he is really enjoying his football, despite the fact that his international prospects could be harmed due to the fact that he is not regularly playing in the same position:

“In a way, it suits my game and still gives me some sort of licence to push on and, if the wing-back runs forward and has to turn back, I’m there to take one touch and put the ball into the box. Defensively, I can sweep up as well and slot over when the wing-back goes forward. Of course, it can hurt my international prospects but I’m realistic and I know the situation and how tough it’s going to be to make that World Cup squad. As long as I do my best for West Ham, whatever happens, happens. My main focus at the minute is West Ham and keeping us in the Premier League.”

Despite Cresswell’s words, it could be argued that someone with the Hammers ace’s versatility across the back-line is exactly what Gareth Southgate needs, during what will hopefully be a long and arduous World Cup campaign.
With this in mind, the Liverpool-born West Ham star should not rule out his chances of making the Three Lions’ World Cup squad this summer just yet.
