Chris Sutton has told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport that West Ham would take Jesse Lingard at their club this summer.

The former striker shared that he can’t understand why Lingard hasn’t left Manchester United because he doesn’t think he will earn the minutes this season.

Lingard played a huge part in the Hammers reaching the Europa League last season because his January arrival elevated David Moyes’ side.

But, at this moment in time, he is still at Old Trafford, with not long remaining now until the transfer window slams shut.

Sutton shared that Lingard was ‘superb’ for Moyes last season and there’s no doubt that the one-time FA Cup winner would be welcomed back in East London.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen with Jesse Lingard,” said Sutton. “I don’t understand that situation with Lingard where he was superb for West Ham at the end of last season.

“He isn’t going to get a game for Manchester United. Why hasn’t he moved anywhere yet? Certainly, West Ham would take him.”

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Lingard does make a late move and the chances of him departing will only increase if he doesn’t earn the minutes at his boyhood club.

Lingard has just come out of isolation, but it’s going to take a lot from him to get in a Man United team that whacked Leeds for five over the weekend.

Either way, Lingard needs the minutes because he proved last season that he has put himself back on the map, both from a domestic standpoint and on the international stage.
