West Ham United have been linked with a move for the prolific Belgian.

According to a recent report from the Sun, West Ham United are interested in signing £20m-rated Napoli attacker Dries Mertens this summer, and if the Hammers completed a deal for the Belgian it would erase the disappointment of their recent transfer woes in a single swipe.
West Ham headed into last summer with the bit between their teeth and a list of fine potential additions, so it came as a huge blow to their supporters when they signed the likes of Simone Zaza, Havard Nordtveit and Jonathan Calleri.
Few of their 2016 additions have impressed and Hammers manager Slaven Bilic needs to get it right a year on or risk another season of struggle.
Signing Mertens, who has scored a remarkable 31 goals in 44 matches for Napoli this season, would be a huge step in the right direction.
He may be 30, but Mertens is well worth the outlay it would take to bring him to the London Stadium if he went on to replicate his best form at the club.

West Ham need real quality and Mertens has that in abundance, and his versatility means he could operate either as a centre forward or a left winger for the Hammers.
The time has come for West Ham to put their money where their mouth is and ensure they have the experienced players required to help their exciting next generation develop.
