Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has a lot of work to do this summer, as he looks to build a squad capable of making a sustained challenge for the Europa League spots next term.
One particular area that requires urgent attention is the goalkeeping position, with neither Darren Randolph or Adrian impressing throughout the course of this season just gone.
The Sun reported last week that Manchester City stopper Joe Hart is Bilic’s number one target this summer, and that the Croatian is set to make a loan-to-buy offer for the England international.

Whilst the 30-year-old has enjoyed a successful career up to this point, his performance levels have dramatically dropped over the past 12 months or so, during a period where he really should be entering his prime as a goalkeeper.
Hart’s displays at EURO 2016 for the Three Lions left a lot to be desired, and were arguably the key contributing factor behind their early exit from the tournament.
He disappointed once again as recently as this Saturday just gone, when he allowed Scotland’s Leigh Griffiths to beat him twice from 30 plus yards in the space of just two minutes.
He also let in 64 goals in just 37 outings for Torino last term, which is an extremely concerning statistic for any potential suitors.

His positioning and agility have both been called into question, and it is now becoming more clear why Pep Guardiola had little trust in the former Shrewsbury Town man when he arrived at the Etihad last summer.
And with Hart’s £100,000 per week wages, combined with the £18 million required to obtain his signature in the summer of 2018, there will surely be plenty of West Ham fans who are sceptical with regards to a move for the City and England stopper.
Bilic absolutely has to get his transfer business right this summer, if he is to remain in the Hammers hot-seat for the foreseeable future, and by signing Hart, he would be taking one serious risk that he doesn’t really need to take.
