West Ham breathed a collective sigh of relief when their most exciting talent in recent years committed his long-term future to the club.

Talented midfielder Domingos Quina is one of the most exciting young players in Europe and his long-term commitment is a huge boost to West Ham, academy director Terry Westley has told the club’s official website.
The Guinea-Bissau-born youngster, who only turned 17 earlier this month, recently signed his first professional contract with The Hammers, keeping him at the London Stadium until 2019 much to the delight of manager Slaven Bilic.
The Croatian gave the midfielder his first-team debut in a Europa League qualifier against NK Domzale earlier this season and lauded Quina’s “exceptional” talent upon the inking of his long-term deal, as reported by Sky Sports.
And the club’s academy director appears to share Bilic’s excitement of the teenage wonderkid, who scored a 40-yard stunner in an under-23 clash with Leicester City in October.
“It shows how far we’ve come in the last few years; attracting one of the best talents, not only in England, but in Europe,” Westley told the club’s official website. “He’s that good.

“He’s got that star quality and for him to commit long term to us is great news for the academy, great news for the first-team squad, great news for the manager and great news for the board and directors, who are backing the club to move forward with a talent as big as he is.”
Quina is expected to join a long list of talented individuals to learn their trade in West Ham’s renowned academy.
Over the previous twenty years or so, the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole (below) and Glen Johnson all made their mark with West Ham’s youth sides before beginning long careers at both club and international level and, taking into account the reaction from everyone connected to West Ham upon the announcement of his deal, Quina has the talent to join his illustrious ancestors.
