West Ham United winger Michail Antonio has spoken out about the departure of Sam Allardyce from the England manager’s role, and who he’d like to see replace him, in an interview with ITV News.
Allardyce left his role as England boss after just 67 days yesterday following an investigation into corruption in football by the Telegraph.
Antonio was handed his first call-up to the England squad by Allardyce for the recent World Cup qualifying win against Slovakia – so is upset about the development.

Speaking to ITV News Antonio spoke about the manager he would like to see take over from Allardyce, Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew:
“The manager that I really like and has done well in the years is Pardew. I have been with him at Southampton and I think he’d do well as England manager.
“I don’t say it’s important that the England manger is English, but it would be a nice feel to it and easier to get things out across to the players.”

Antonio spent a season on loan at Southampton from Reading under the guidance of Pardew, when the club were in League One.
Crystal Palace boss Pardew has been made one of the early favourites for the job.
Antonio has been in great form for West Ham recently. The winger has scored five goals in 11 games for West Ham this season – despite their current poor form.

Pardew’s appointment would likely be good news for Antonio, as he suits the Palace bosses attacking style.
Time will tell if Antonio gets his wish.
