West Ham United want to sign Ollie Watkins – and believe they have a great chance of signing the Arsenal-linked Aston Villa star this summer.
That’s according to The Daily Mail, who claim that West Ham want to bring in a new striker.
It’s almost 18 months since West Ham sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax.
David Moyes still hasn’t been able to bring in another striker though and Michail Antonio needs support.
A host of strikers have been linked with moves to West Ham and Watkins is now emerging as a prime target.
West Ham want to sign Ollie Watkins
Reports surrounding West Ham’s interest in Watkins emerged earlier this week.
The Guardian reported that West Ham are looking towards Watkins as a possible signing this summer. That report suggested that £50million is the price tag on Watkins.
The Daily Mail now add to those claims, suggesting that West Ham think they have a ‘strong chance’ of signing Watkins this summer.
West Ham believe that Steven Gerrard wants to overhaul the Villa squad and selling Watkins could help raise funds.
West Ham are eyeing ambitious signings after reaching the Europa League semi-finals and believe Watkins is well within reach.

Arsenal an option for Watkins
West Ham aren’t alone in the race to sign Watkins though.
The Mirror claim that Arsenal have four strikers on their wish list and Aston Villa star Watkins is one of them.
That has to be appealing to Watkins given that he grew up supporting Arsenal.
Arsenal do have other strikers on their wish list though. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Darwin Nunez and Gabriel Jesus are also in the list.
There is no guarantee that Watkins will get his dream move to Arsenal, and West Ham seemingly hope to offer him a different move to London.
