West Ham United have joined Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal in the race to sign Euro 2020 striker Roman Yaremchuk in a deal worth £17 million, as reported by The Express.
While the Hammers have made great use of the Czech market in recent times – bringing Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal to England – it seems the London giants have turned their attention to Belgium’s Jupiler League.
More specifically, a powerhouse centre-forward who fired KAA Gent to a European spot in 2020/21.
Yaremchuk scored a career-best 23 goals last season and, on Sunday, proved his worth on the international stage too, thumping a bullet header past Maarten Stekelenburg during Ukraine’s 3-2 defeat to the Netherlands in the Euro 2020 group stages.
The way Yaremchuk led the line against the Dutch will have impressed the West Ham scouts. The 6ft 3in target man showcased his wily movement, intelligent link play and fearsome aerial presence.
