West Ham United take on Leicester City in the Premier League on Friday night, with new Hammers boss David Moyes looking to claim his first win since taking the job.
Moyes was appointed as Slaven Bilic’s replacement earlier this month, with the Croatian losing his job after a 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool.
The Hammers saw Moyes take charge for the first time last week, but a 2-0 defeat at Watford – thanks to goals from Will Hughes and Richarlison – means Moyes opened with a loss.
On Friday night, Moyes takes charge of West Ham at the London Stadium for the first time, as Leicester City are welcomed to East London with a new manager of their own.
Claude Puel was brought in Craig Shakespeare’s replacement last month, and the Frenchman has won one, drawn one and lost one of his opening three games.
Puel will go head to head with Moyes again having met as Southampton and Sunderland managers respectively last season, and the pair have been speaking about Friday’s matchup.
Moyes spoke to the press earlier today ahead of the game, and ex-Hammers midfielder Don Hutchison was in attendance, later posting on Instagram that he thinks Moyes seemed ‘upbeat’ about West Ham’s chances this weekend.
Moyes was often criticised for being too negative at Sunderland last season, but some now think that the time away – and with a point to prove – Moyes is back to his best, back to how he was at Everton, and Hutchison is hoping that fans will get behind the Scot on Friday.
Whilst fans are far from convinced by Moyes’ arrival, if he can get that drive, passion and bullishness back that he had with Everton – which some have already noticed returning – then he could yet prove his doubters wrong.
