Mark Noble and Yohan Cabaye had a bust-up during Saturday’s 2-2 draw between West Ham United and Crystal Palace.
West Ham United captain Mark Noble has criticised the attitude shown by Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park.
Noble was happy to leave the animosity on the field but was annoyed by the Frenchman’s petulant decision not to put the battle to bed upon the final whistle.
The Daily Star reports that Noble, frustrated by West Ham’s concession of an equaliser deep into stoppage time, had to be pulled away from Cabaye at full time.
“I have played 400 and something games for this club and I’ve had many battles with many players,” Noble is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
“I’ve always thought you can have 90 minutes of a battle, but you always shake hands with each other after. That’s my point of view.
“It was his attitude. I didn’t really like his attitude. That’s why I had something to say.
“If I’m honest I wasn’t happy how he went about things and as I’ve said you battle with many players over the years but afterwards you always look each other in the eye and shake hands.”
Javier Hernandez and Andre Ayew put West Ham into a two-goal lead in the first half, but Luka Milivojevic’s penalty and Wilfried Zaha’s last-gasp strike snatched Palace a point.
Boyhood Hammers fan Noble has been in the first team for over a decade and will be hurting from the poor form which leaves the Iron only one point above the Premier League relegation zone.
If Noble’s passion catches on inside the dressing room, West Ham will soon be out of trouble.
