West Ham United will be able to bring in Tom Cairney from Fulham for £20 million, if they are not promoted.

West Ham have tracked Cairney for some time, but baulked at Fulham’s £40 million asking price in January, as reported by Sky Sports.
That was understandable, given that figure was over-inflated, due to Fulham’s desire to keep hold of the Scottish international.

However, for half that price, Cairney looks a very appealing addition and West Ham would have no excuse not to complete a deal.
Hammers fans are desperate for the board to start spending more funds on players, and Cairney’s arrival would be a step in the right direction.

Although the central midfielder may not have a great deal of Premier League experience, his showings in the Championship this term have proven he would be an upgrade on West Ham’s current options in the centre of the pitch.
Fulham may well earn promotion this season, which would make West Ham’s task a lot harder.
But if Slavisa Jokanovic’s side fail in the play offs, then West Ham simply must ensure Cairney is playing his football at the London Stadium next term.
