West Ham United are said to be interested in signing the in-form Porto striker.

West Ham United have been linked with Porto’s Moussa Marega in Portuguese newspaper A Bola today, but to bring him in they will surely have to break their transfer record.

Currently Marko Arnautovic is the most expensive player that West Ham have ever bought, but Marega would surely cost considerably more.

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly enquired about signing Marega in January, but were taken aback when Porto said they would have to pay £35 million for the Mali international, according to Foot Mercato.

Marega’s price tag is unlikely to have dropped in 2018, as his form has continued to be strong.

Marega has hit eight goals in his 10 appearances this calendar year, which means that his price tag may well have risen rather than fallen since January.

And West Ham would have to show a great deal of ambition to get a deal done for the prolific Porto hitman in the summer.

Should West Ham break their transfer record on Marega?

West Ham’s board have come in for criticism for not putting in adequate funds of late, but if they signed Marega they would be able to reduce frustrations.

The 26-year-old has certainly enjoyed a wonderful season in Portugal, but he has no experience of the English game and paying such a big fee for an unproven player, would be a major gamble.
