Manuel Pellegrini has reportedly decided that West Ham United winger Michail Antonio should be made available for transfer.
Newcastle United and Crystal Palace have both been linked with Antonio in recent times, as interest mounts in the West Ham wide-man.
Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly willing to listen to bids for Antonio, as he considers selling the 28-year-old.
Antonio struggled with injury last term, and it appears that Pellegrini has deemed him to be an expendable player.
That decision has to go down as a big risk from Pellegrini, as Antonio is one of his players who is a proven threat at Premier League level.
Granted, Antonio’s injury record is a concern, but he was West Ham’s Player of the Season just two years ago.
Antonio has played at right-back, right-midfield and up-front during his time at West Ham, and proved effective in every position.
Antonio has contributed 21 goals and 11 assists in his 90 appearances for West Ham so far, and if Pellegrini feels he can upgrade the winger, then that should be seen as a signal of ambition.
However, finding better than Antonio won’t be easy, and letting a player of his quality leave the London Stadium would have to be seen as a risk from Pellegrini.
