West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers both want Roland Sallai with the Freiburg star attracting major interest.

That’s according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who claim that interest is mounting ahead of January.

They claim that Sallai has been offered to both Lazio and Fiorentina over in Italy.

Lazio seemingly aren’t focused on signing an attacker until the summer though, leaving the door open for others.

It’s added that Sallai has received offers from both West Ham and Wolves with English clubs keeping close tabs on him.

Freiburg would allegedly be open to letting Sallai leave on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

That would make Sallai a cheap option for both West Ham and Wolves as we head towards the January transfer window.

Who is West Ham and Wolves target Roland Sallai?

Sallai spent time in the ranks of Siofok, Videoton and Puskas Akamedia over in his native Hungary.

Palermo saw enough to lure Sallai to Italy in 2016 but his loan spell ended with just one goal to his name.

Puskas Akademia then sold Sallai to APOEL Nicosia over in Cyprus, where he needed just one nine-goal season to spark interest again.

Freiburg pounced in 2018, giving the Hungarian ace a chance to play in the Bundesliga.

18 goals and 13 assists in 108 games is a decent record for Sallai, who has been a very versatile attacking threat for the German side.

Sallai has played on both flanks, as an attacking midfielder and even as a makeshift striker – and that’s just this season!

Nine goals in 38 caps for Hungary is another great example of Sallai’s attacking threat.

The Bundesliga’s official website suggests that Sallai’s style of play is similar to that of Jadon Sancho, hailing his ‘quick feet and acceleration’.

Sallai isn’t a huge name but a loan-to-buy could be very appealing for West Ham and Wolves as they consider attacking additions.
