Stade de Reims boss William Still has been making headlines this season and it appears that he holds West Ham United close to his heart.

Reims parted ways with Oscar Garcia back in October after around 16 months in the job.

The Spaniard was replaced on a temporary basis by assistant coach Still in a decision that now looks to be a masterstroke.

Ahead of today’s game against Nice, Still has yet to lose in charge of Reims with five wins and four draws in nine games.

The 30-year-old has been given the job until the end of the season but, as things stand, he will surely be in line for a longer stint in charge.

William Still has strong West Ham United connection

Whilst Still is Belgian, he does have connections to England.

At the age of just 17, Still moved to England to study at Myerscough College in Preston and then coached Preston North End’s Under-14’s.

That set Still on the path to becoming a manager and he has also had coaching spells with Lierse, Beerschot and Standard Liege.

That’s a pretty incredible story and its one with Football Manager at its centre.

Still learned about coaching through Football Manager and was like many of us – staying up until the early hours of the morning to play.

The Daily Mail note that Still is actually a West Ham United fan through his father.

Still allegedly always played as West Ham on Football Manager with the Irons having a special place in his heart.

This comes as West Ham boss David Moyes finds himself under enormous pressure.

Another manager with ties to Preston North End, Moyes is clinging onto his job with the Hammers at the wrong end of the Premier League table.

It’s very early for Still to be considered for such a job but if it did become available, you could hardly blame the Belgian for being interested.

Still appears to have a very exciting future in management and his love for West Ham will surely see him linked to the Hammers one day.
