West Ham United boss David Moyes reportedly wants to give Robert Snodgrass another chance.
Snodgrass has impressed on loan at Aston Villa, and Moyes intends to keep him at West Ham next term.
And that news is hardly a promising sign that West Ham have some big transfers lined up.
Hammers supporters are desperate for an injection of quality, and have urged the owners to spend big to improve the options available to Moyes.
But if the Scot is intending to keep Snodgrass around next term, then it hardly screams ambition.
Snodgrass was poor during his first spell with West Ham, and although that may not have been totally reflective of his true quality, he is not the sort of player capable of taking Moyes’ side to the next level.
Snodgrass is now 30-years-old, and he is a better fit for a side battling relegation than fighting for a European spot, as West Ham fans hope their side can.
Snodgrass lacks pace, and although his delivery is exceptional, the bulk of his success has come at Championship level.
And West Ham’s desire to bring him back could leave some supporters questioning the club’s ambitions for next season already.
