West Ham United star Pablo Fornals is eager to seize his chance to impress David Moyes in the Europa Conference League. He views the competition as a route to earn more minutes.
The 27-year-old wants to take full advantage of the UEFA competition having featured less frequently this season. Moyes has so far only fielded Fornals for 1,704 minutes through 35 of West Ham’s 39 meetings in all competitions. He has also only started the Spaniard in 18.
Fornals had enjoyed a greater role in Moyes’ plans last term with 3,765 minutes across 54 appearances. He further only failed to feature in two of the Hammers’ fixtures and started in 41. But the six-cap Spain international has slipped down the Irons coach’s pecking order.

Moyes has afforded Fornals a lesser role at West Ham so far this season
Moyes still relies on Fornals to make an impact for West Ham but from fewer minutes. He has only opted against using the midfielder at all in four games. Fornals spent four Premier League games as an unused substitute having made each of the Irons’ possible squads yet.
But Fornals has featured for 10 or fewer minutes on seven occasions, as well. He also only featured for eight, seven, 45 and 13 minutes across the Hammer’s last five Premier League fixtures. Moyes left Fornals as an unused substitute as West Ham drew 1-1 with Chelsea.

Fornals opens up on his lack of minutes at the London Stadium this term
Fornals has now opened up on his lack of substantial minutes under Moyes for West Ham so far this term. He accepts that it is the Scot’s decision who plays, when they feature and or how long. So, he wants to use the Europa Conference League to improve his situation.
“This season, I’m not having the minutes I did last season,” Fornals stated, via quotes by football.london. “So, I have a chance and I want to take it.”
The midfielder added: “He’s the manager, it is his decision. I want to help and play like all of my teammates do.”
West Ham host AEK Larnaca during the second leg of their Europa Conference League last 16 tie this Thursday. Moyes started Fornals in the first leg in Cyprus as the Irons took a 2-0 win last week. The Spaniard had also scored two goals and one assist over the group stage.
