Manuel Lanzini admits ‘nobody’ at West Ham United has spoken with the midfielder about his future ahead of his contract expiring this June. Teams are also now targeting a transfer.

The Hammers have a handful of players due to become free agents on July 1 with Lanzini, Aaron Cresswell, Angelo Ogbonna, Lukasz Fabianski and Vladimir Coufal. But the Irons are yet to debate new terms with Lanzini. Nor have the Hammers decided that he will depart.

West Ham have the option to extend Lanzini’s existing contract by a further two years. The London Stadium side agreed on the clause with the 30-year-old when he last signed a new deal in August 2019. But the Argentine has played a limited role for David Moyes this term.

David Moyes has only afforded Manuel Lanzini a bit-part role at West Ham

Moyes has only fielded Lanzini in 19 of West Ham’s fixtures across all competitions despite him being available for 39. The Scot has further only started the midfielder in 12 games, of which 10 have come in Europe. He has opened all of their Europa Conference League ties.

Lanzini showed what he can still offer with an assist as West Ham beat AEK Larnaca 4-0 in the second leg of their last 16 tie on Thursday. Yet it was also the five-cap Argentina star’s first assist this season. He also scored twice in the Europa Conference League group stage.

Manuel Lanzini already has offers for a free transfer when his contract expires

Rival teams also still appreciate what Lanzini could offer in a free transfer once his contract at West Ham expires. Dean Jones reports that some oversea teams have already made the £70k-a-week star offers. He has been able to negotiate with foreign teams since January 1.

West Ham paid Al Jazira £9m to sign Lanzini in March 2016 after taking up an option in the terms of his initial loan transfer. But after 222 appearances, 31 goals and 28 assists across all competitions, the Irons have left the Ituzaingo-born maestro in the dark over his future.

“No no no,” Lanzini said, via quotes by football.london. “Nobody talks with me but we will see what happens in the summer.”
