West Ham United are said to want to buy Isaac Hayden from Rafael Benitez at Newcastle United and he could be the final piece of the jigsaw.

West Ham United’s addition of Pablo Fornals has given them a midfield which ranks among the most creative in the Premier League.

However, if there is one issue in West Ham’s midfield which still remains, it is that they could lack power.

Declan Rice performs well as a shield in front of West Ham’s defence, but most of Manuel Pellegrini’s other options thrive in possession.

West Ham may have Pedro Obiang, but his future is very insecure, and beyond that they are short of options who excel defensively.

It could mean that the signing of Isaac Hayden from Newcastle United has become more important than ever.

Football London have suggested that West Ham want to sign the £15 million-rated Newcastle man, who is keen to move away from St. James’ Park.

Hayden’s arrival at the London Stadium isn’t the most exciting transfer that West Ham have been linked with this summer, but he could still be a very important addition.

Hayden was one of Rafael Benitez’s side’s star performers over the second half of last season, as Newcastle comfortably secured their safety in the Premier League.

Hayden would ensure that West Ham’s midfield is not lacking in defensive options, and enable them to win the physical battle in the more combative affairs they play this season.

And Hayden could now be the final piece of the jigsaw for Pellegrini at the London Stadium.
