According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United are mulling over whether to pay £18 million for Anderlecht’s Leander Dendoncker, and that raises question of what more they are expecting for their money.

Stuart Pearce watched Dendoncker play last weekend, after taking a flight over to Belgium.

However, West Ham are not said to be convinced that the Anderlecht midfielder is worth the money just yet.

Anderlecht reportedly want £18 million for the 22-year-old, which West Ham are having to ponder paying.

But it has to be asked, how much cheaper they were expecting to get Dendoncker?

The Anderlecht midfielder has been tipped as one of Belgium’s brightest talents for a number of years now, and he has shown his potential time and time again.

Leander Dendoncker of RSC Anderlecht arrives for the UEFA Champions League group B match between Celtic FC and RSC Anderlecht at Celtic Park on December 5, 2017 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Dendoncker has looked comfortable in Champions League and Europa League football, while he has also been a standout player in Belgium’s top tier.

And in the current market, an £18 million fee for Dendoncker looks like a bargain that West Ham shouldn’t have to think too long about paying.
