West Ham United should make a move for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley in the summer transfer window.

Back in April, West Ham United attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini spoke highly of Everton star Ross Barkley.

“They also have Ross Barkley, who is a very good player,” Lanzini told West Ham’s office website. “I don’t think he is thinking about the pressure people are putting on him, because there was a lot of pressure on him last week and he played really well against Hull City.

“He has a good touch, good finishing and good recovery, so he is a very good player. I don’t think the pressure is a bad thing for him.”

Barkley is one of the best attacking midfielders at Everton, but the England international’s future at the Toffees seems to be wrapped up in uncertainty.

As reported by BBC Sport, Everton manager Ronald Koeman has said that the 23-year-old has until next weekend to sign a new contract or he will be sold in the summer transfer window.

If Barkley does not sign a new deal, then West Ham should make a move for him in the summer.

Lanzini’s comments show just highly the English attacking midfielder is rated among his peers, and the Hammers would be signing a potentially world-class player.

Although Lazini has played well at times, the 24-year-old has yet to show that he can fill the hole left by Dimitri Payet, who joined Marseille in the January transfer window.

Barkley could be the player to take over from Payet. The 23-year-old is a very creative midfielder, and if he is given freedom to do what he wants in the attacking part of the pitch, then he could prove to be a massive success for the Hammers.
