Slaven Bilic’s West Ham United side have kept tabs on Renato Sanches for some time.

According to a report in A Bola back in 2016, West Ham United had eyes on Portuguese sensation Renato Sanches, before his move to Bayern Munich.

West Ham had been scouting Sanches, after being alerted to his talents at Benfica, but a deal was never likely to be possible.

The central midfielder had a growing reputation by the time Bayern decided to snap him up, but the last year has been a difficult one for the youngster.

Sanches has struggled to make much of an impact in Germany – with most his appearances coming as a substitute.

Bayern’s addition of Corentin Tolisso this summer has plunged Sanches further down the pecking order, and there are now doubts over the 19-year-old’s future.

Bayern are unlikely to want to allow Sanches to leave permanently, as he has the potential to become a superstar, but a loan move could suit all parties – and West Ham should test the water.

The Hammers already know all about Sanches’ talents, having kept eyes on him for some time, and he could be the perfect addition to Slaven Bilic’s side.

Sanches would bring power and pace to West Ham’s midfield ranks, and he looks ideally suited to Premier League football.

And although the Hammers may have missed their chance to sign Sanches on a permanent deal, if there is even the slightest opening to bring a player of his quality to the London Stadium for a season, they should jump at the opportunity.
