West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass has been linked with moves away from the club in the summer transfer window.

Much was expected of Robert Snodgrass when he joined West Ham United from Hull City in the January transfer window for a fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £10.2 million.

The former Leeds United and Norwich City winger was expected to make the Hammers stronger and help them break into the top 10 of the Premier League last season.

The 29-year-old winger, though, failed to make a huge impact at the London Stadium. Snodgrass made only eight starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Hammers, providing two assists in the process.

The Mirror reported last month that West Ham are looking to offload the Scotland international winger in the summer transfer window, with Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday claimed to be interested in him.

West Ham have been quite active in the summer transfer window, and Snodgrass would struggle to play regularly for the Hammers next season.

However, it would be a mistake from the London club to let go of the Scotsman after just half a season.

Although the 29-year-old failed to make an impact in the second half of last season, there is no doubt that he is a quality player who needs a full pre-season to fully integrate into the team.

For West Ham to break into the top eight or top seven of the Premier League next season, they need a competitive squad, and the presence of Snodgrass would keep the likes of Marko Arnautovic and Michail Antonio on their toes.

The Hammers need to give the Scotsman a full season to show what he is capable of, as it would not be fair on the winger to be dumped after six months.
