West Ham United have been linked with a number of players in the summer transfer window, including Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini (The Mirror), Hertha Berlin striker Davie Selke (SportBILD) and Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney (The Sun).

Shinji Kagawa has also been linked with West Ham, with Fussballeck reporting that the London club want to sign the former Manchester United attacking midfielder from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old may have failed to do much of note during his brief spell at United, but the Japan international is a brilliant footballer who would be an upgrade to the West Ham attacking midfielder.

However, it is unlikely that the Hammers would be able to secure the services of the former Cerezo Osaka star for two reasons – his struggles at the Red Devils under Moyes and the reported interest of Everton.

With Tuttomercatoweb claiming of interest from Everton, the Hammers would find it hard to compete with the Toffees, especially as the Merseyside outfit are likely to finish in the top 10 of the Premier League this season and the London club are still in danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season.

Back in September 2014, Kagawa, who won the Premier League title with the Red Devils in 2013 and the Bundesliga with Dortmund in 2011 and 2012, admitted that Moyes with whom he worked at United during the 2013-14 season did not have trust in him, telling Sky Sports: “Everybody knows that my second year at Manchester United was particularly difficult. “The manager did not really count on me, and the team was also on a bad run.”

Having not had a good time working with Moyes, Kagawa is unlikely to entertain the idea of playing for West Ham as long as the former Everton boss is in charge of the London outfit.
