The Hammers have endured a difficult start to the season and David Moyes finds himself under pressure.
That’s despite a positive summer window in which Gianluca Scamacca, Nayef Aguerd and Lucas Paqueta were signed for big money.
Moyes may well be looking for January signings to help him steady the ship and a new name has entered the mix.
West Ham United want Rodrigo Becao
Tutto Udinese have thrown West Ham’s name into the frame for Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao.
They suggest that West Ham are ‘on alert’ for Becao alongside Everton.
It’s suggested that buyers are being attracted to Becao because his contract expires in 2024, meaning he is heading into the final 18 months of his deal.
A new contract isn’t easy for Udinese to pull off and West Ham are allegedly keen.
Becao, 26, has become one of Serie A’s top defenders and looks ready to make a big move away from Udinese.
This does though feel like agent work at its finest.
Just days ago, Tutto Udinese claimed that Arsenal and Tottenham were both willing to pay around €15million (£13million) for Becao.
Now it’s another Premier League club being thrown into the race just as Udinese want to discuss a new contract with the Brazilian centre back.
Additionally, West Ham already have right-footed centre backs in Kurt Zouma, Thilo Kehrer and Craig Dawson.
Another left-footer to eventually take over from Angelo Ogbonna as Aguerd’s backup makes sense, sure.
Another right footer just doesn’t add up unless Moyes has decided he wants to play Kehrer as a right back in the long-term.
We’re calling major doubts on West Ham’s alleged interest in Becao and can’t really see him heading to the London Stadium as things stand.
