West Ham United want Odilon Kossounou having again missed out on signing the Bayer Leverkusen man during the January transfer window.

That’s according to The Sun, who claim that West Ham are ready to move for Kossounou yet again at the end of the season.

It’s stated that Kossounou wants to leave Leverkusen in the summer and David Moyes is ready to make another move for him.

Kossounou is understood to have his sights set on a move to the Premier League as he attempts to leave Leverkusen.

This won’t be an easy pursuit for West Ham though as Leicester City and Nottingham Forest are also interested.

Leverkusen wants around £25million for Kossounou but neither West Ham nor Leicester appear all that keen on a straight cash deal.

They instead want a loan-to-buy deal, seemingly preferring to see how Kossounou fares in English football before committing to a move.

Here we are again with Kossounou being linked towards West Ham.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon reported via Patreon that West Ham were showing an interest in Kossounou back in August – with Leicester mentioned then too.

The Sun then suggested that West Ham made a late move to try and sign Kossounou before the summer deadline.

However, West Ham only offered £1million to take Kossounou on loan and Leverkusen said no.

David Moyes seemingly hasn’t shelved his interest in the Ivorian though and another attempt could be on the horizon.

Kossounou, 22, showed promise with Hammarby in Sweden before shining with Belgian side Club Brugge.

Leverkusen pounced for his signature in July 2021 but Kossounou has been in and out of the team.

Hailed as ‘special’ and ‘complete’ by agent Patrick Mork in comments given to InterLive, Kossounou has great pace for a defender and can play at right back or centre back.

Moyes may fancy his versatility for West Ham and a summer push for his signature seems inevitable now.
