West Ham United continue to be linked with a move for Clermont Foot striker Mohamed Bayo, and he is now being likened to Romelu Lukaku.

West Ham’s interest in Bayo

Many West Ham fans expected the club to sign a striker over the summer, with Michail Antonio needing support.

That never happened though, despite West Ham seemingly chasing a move for Bayo.

Le10 Sport reported in August that West Ham had initiated contact in an attempt to sign Bayo.

No deal happened, but The Sun state that West Ham still want Bayo in 2022.

Bayo, 23, has hit five goals in just nine Ligue 1 games this season. Last term, Bayo smashed 22 goals in 38 games, firing Clermont Foot to promotion.

Bayo now likened to Lukaku

West Ham may well make a move for Bayo in January, but he is also on the radar of Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Argus have spoken to Liam Wraith, an expert on French football with Over the Bar and Get French Football News.

Wraith suggested that Bayo is reminiscent of a young Romelu Lukaku because of his ‘awkward but effective’ first touch.

Bayo would likely come at a fraction of the cost Lukaku has ever cost in his career, but if West Ham would surely love it if he became even half the player.
