West Ham United have failed to land some of their targets this summer, although Pablo Fornals’ arrival is still brilliant.

West Ham United’s summer started off brilliantly after they landed Pablo Fornals, but things have begun to get frustrating of late.

West Ham have missed out on three targets in recent days, with Denis Vavro, Maxi Gomez and Matt Targett all either set to head elsewhere.

Targett has signed for Aston Villa, while Vavro is about to join Lazio and Gomez will sign for Valencia soon.

It had been reported in Il Messaggero that West Ham wanted Vavro, but the centre-back has opted to join Lazio instead.

Gomez has been one of West Ham’s top targets all summer, but Marca claim he is going to Valencia, while Targett went to Aston Villa ahead of the Hammers, the Telegraph have suggested.

The loss of Gomez is, perhaps, the biggest blow to West Ham – as Manuel Pellegrini’s side do need a striker.

Gomez would have been a really appealing addition to West Ham’s squad, but it seems that Pellegrini will now have to look elsewhere.

Targett and Vavro were less important targets, but the pair could still have bolstered West Ham’s defence.

And West Ham won’t want to miss out on too many more of Pellegrini’s targets, as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming campaign.
