West Ham United may just have an advantage in the race to sign Hector Herrera from Porto, due to his relationship with Javier Hernandez.

Everton are said to be competing with West Ham for Herrera, but the potential to link up with Hernandez could be tempting for the Mexican central midfielder.

Herrera and Hernandez are known to be good friends, after teaming up with each other at international level for a number of years.

Javier Hernandez #14 of Mexico reacts to the referee after a play during an international friendly soccer match against Croatia at AT&T Stadium on March 27, 2018 in Arlington, Texas.

Hernandez and Herrera have been two of Mexico’s stalwarts for many years, and if West Ham do want the midfielder then they would be wise to tell the striker to encourage his international teammate to join him at the London Stadium.

West Ham would certainly benefit from Herrera’s arrival, as he could help strengthen Manuel Pellegrini’s midfield options.

Porto's Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera celebrates a goal during the Portuguese league footbal match between SL Benfica and FC Porto at the Luz stadium in Lisbon on April 15, 2018.

CM Journal claim that Porto would consider offers of around £13 million for the midfielder this summer.

And at that price West Ham could be securing one of best value-for-money signings around, if Hernandez can help convince the midfielder to move.
