West Ham United want Luizao but the Sao Paulo defender has surprised many by refusing a proposal from the Hammers.

The Hammers added two new centre backs over the summer as Thilo Kehrer and Nayef Aguerd joined from Paris Saint-Germain and

Yet with Craig Dawson’s long-term future still up in the air even after missing out on a late move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham may still fancy another centre back.

David Moyes is bound to have targets in mind but it sounds like one of them isn’t all that keen on a move.

West Ham United want Luizao

Sao Paulo defender Luizao is the man West Ham want having been impressed with his potential over in Brazil.

Lance now claim that Luizao has refused a first official proposal from West Ham – and has surprised staff at Sao Paulo as a result.

Luizao allegedly defied his representatives by making extra demands to West Ham in order to sign, one of which is for them to pay a fee to Sao Paulo.

Luizao is out of contact at the end of January 2023 and West Ham could simply sign him for nothing.

Yet Luizao seemingly wants to make sure that Sao Paulo receive cash and he would want to sign a new deal just to make that happen.

With West Ham so far reluctant, Luizao has rejected their opening proposal.

Sao Paulo suddenly have real hope that Luizao will end up signing a new deal and actually staying with the club for a while yet.

Other clubs are keen though; Fulham and Juventus as well as Portuguese trio Benfica, Sporting and Porto alongside the Red Bull group.

West Ham tried to beat all of them but Luizao is standing firm and his decision to reject the move means Sao Paulo officials are planning new talks.

Luizao, 20, has only played 15 times for Sao Paulo’s first team but looks to be a real talent.

The ability to play at left back will appeal to Moyes too but unless West Ham can come up with an offer that appeases Luizao, they may well miss out.
