West Ham United have now opened talks with Everton as they look to beat Newcastle United to the signing of left back Lucas Digne.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that West Ham have now made their move to try and bring Digne to East London.
Digne has fallen out of Rafael Benitez’s plans at Everton, with the Frenchman not in the team of late.
Everton have even gone and signed another left back in Dynamo Kiev star Vitaliy Mykolenko, meaning Digne’s days are numbered.
Sky Sports claim that Newcastle have offered £22.5million plus Sean Longstaff for Digne, but West Ham are now rivalling them.
With Aaron Cresswell out injured and Arthur Masuaku hardly ideal for playing left back in a four-man defence, Digne could now be signed.
However, it’s suggested that Digne’s £100,000-a-week wages are a problem for West Ham and could scupper the move.

Everton are also seeking £30million for Digne, meaning West Ham would have to dig deep to pull this move off.
It’s hard to imagine West Ham forking out that kind of money for a left back in January, but David Moyes has real hope of a top four finish.
Moyes must be backed with new signings this month, and Digne could bring a real attacking threat down West Ham’s left side.
