West Ham United bond David Moyes is planning to increase the quality available to him in the January transfer window.

If West Ham United sell Reece Oxford and buy Liam Moore it will be one of the most baffling transfer moves that the London club has made in years.

According to The Sun, West Ham are set to offload Oxford to Borussia Monchengladbach in a deal worth £6 million when the transfer window re-opens.

The Daily Mirror suggest that Reading centre-back Moore is being targeted as his replacement, but the move makes little sense.

While Moore may have more immediate first-team prospects at West Ham, it looks a very short-sighted decision.

Oxford is one of the most exciting talents that the Hammers have produced in recent memory, and has far more potential than Moore.

Moore may be a stand out Championship defender, and could even step up to make a solid Premier League player. But Oxford has the ability to be a leading star in the top flight and a future England international.

And if West Ham are allowing Oxford to leave, just to bring in Moore, it is a decision which could come back to haunt them in future years.
