England’s Aaron Cresswell in action with Spain’s Daniel Carvajal
It has been an excellent week for West Ham United left-back Aaron Cresswell. The defender came on for Danny Rose in the 2-2 draw with Spain for England at Wembley earlier this week. It was his international debut and finally saw him get a chance at international level, after months of debate surrounding his continued omission from the England set-up.
The debut was even more impressive considering Cresswell missed a large portion of the season so far with a knee injury.
He was clearly pleased to make his first appearance for his country and shared that fact on his Twitter account yesterday. Here is the tweet in question:
It was not a dream performance from the West Ham man. He was caught up-field for Spain’s first goal in what proved a late comeback from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Wembley.

But it would be harsh to lay the blame at Cresswell’s door for what was a surge in momentum late on from Spain.
Cresswell will hope to continue proving his international credentials with a good performance v Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend.
