West Ham United want Josip Juranovic with Celtic seemingly expecting to lose the Croatian international defender during the January transfer window.

The Hammers are very likely to be in the market for a new right back in 2023.

Vladimir Coufal isn’t quite making the impact he once was and Ben Johnson hasn’t yet kicked on to become a first-choice player.

Thilo Kehrer can play there if needed but David Moyes may now fancy signing a natural right back to bolster his Hammers squad.

West Ham United want Josip Juranovic

90Min now claim that West Ham are ‘impressed’ with Celtic star Josip Juranovic ahead of potentially launching a move.

However, it’s noted that any move for Juranovic actually hinges on the future of Coufal.

Bayer Leverkusen are keen on signing Coufal in January but that may similarly hinge on Manchester United making a move for Jeremie Frimpong – ironically, a former Celtic man.

That’s a real transfer merry-go-round and West Ham will hope to leave the January window with a new right back on board.

Juranovic, 27, has impressed for Celtic ever since joining from Legia Warsaw in 2021.

Juranovic has played at right back and left back whilst chipping in with six goals and three assists for the Bhoys.

The Croatian is now featuring at the World Cup and reports from the Daily Mail before the tournament suggested that Celtic expected him to leave in January.

That has become pretty clear with Celtic now on the verge of signing CF Montreal right back Alistair Johnston to replace him.

West Ham are likely to face competition from both Chelsea and Manchester United, with the Daily Mail reporting in August that both teams fancy Juranovic.

The Hammers will ultimately hope that the lure of regular first-team football at the London Stadium can convince him – but don’t expect a roaring recommendation from his international teammate Nikola Vlasic…
