West Ham United have an interest in landing Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper amid doubts over the long-term future of David Moyes.

Steve Cooper is on West Ham United’s radar as a potential replacement for David Moyes.

That is according to TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, who claims that Cooper has Premier League suitors.

Cooper’s Nottingham Forest lost again on Saturday, falling to a 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion.

Forest have won just three times this season and there have been reports from the Daily Mail that Cooper is now under increasing pressure at the City Ground.

West Ham United now interested in Steve Cooper

Cooper may be at risk of losing his job at Forest, but he still has suitors from elsewhere in the Premier League.

The Welshman is understood to be a target for Crystal Palace as they consider long-term successors for Roy Hodgson.

TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook adds that West Ham are ‘also fans’ of Cooper amid doubts over David Moyes’ future.

Moyes is out of contract at the end of the season and many Hammers fans now feel that it’s time for change at the London Stadium.

West Ham will be studying a number of managers and Cooper is one who has impressed them having kept Forest in the Premier League last season.

Whether Hammers fans would be happy with Cooper is another matter, as going for a manager under pressure at Forest may not inspire confidence.

Who is West Ham target Cooper?

Cooper was a defender in his playing days and turned out in Welsh football for the likes of The New Saints, Rhyl and Bangor City.

Cooper secured his UEFA Pro Licence at just 27 and coached in Wrexham’s academy before heading to Liverpool in 2008.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Raheem Sterling emerged through Cooper’s coaching but he chose to move on in 2014, becoming England Under-16 boss.

Cooper stepped up to become England Under-17 boss in 2015 and won the Under-17 World Cup in 2017.

Cooper tried his hand at club management in 2019, becoming Swansea City boss following the departure of Graham Potter.

The 43-year-old secured two top-six finishes at Swansea but missed out on promotion before leaving in 2021, with Forest happy to scoop him up.

Forest won promotion in Cooper’s first season at the club and then stayed up, all whilst playing a decent brand of football and having to deal with a raft of signings coming in.

Hailed as ‘brilliant’ by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, Cooper is a highly-regarded coach who has worked wonders in charge of Forest and will seemingly have plenty of interest if Forest axe him any time soon.
